The new Morgo Super Rotary pump is capable of delivering approximately 3 to 4 pints of oil a minute when the oil is hot. A rotary pump of the new type will still pump oil adequately when the oil is in a very contaminated condition, and the pump is very worn. Normally the contamination in the oil would hold open the ball valves in the plunger type pumps, and stop the pump working at pressure, scavenge, or both. Resulting in either no oil pressure or the crank case full of oil. No number of extra ball valves can eliminate this possibility.
Although our Morgo plunger pumps have stood the test of time and will always give good value for money, the reciprocating action of the plunger pump promotes an out of balance situation, resulting in pulsation of the oil flow, noise and vibration. The new rotary pump gives the opposite and has a more shock absorbing effect, because the load on the cam drive gear train is more constant, and not on and off load all the time the engine is running.P
It has been reported back to us by customers that they have noticed a significant decrease in engine temperature. This can only be attributed to the greater oil flow, establishing that the oil is doing a better job of both lubricating and cooling the engine. Having oil coolers fitted is of great benefit, but is a waste of time if the oil flow is so slow as to allow the oil to dwell too long in the engine without passing through the oil cooler. The oil cooler can only be fully effective if the oil circulation can transfer the heat to the oil cooler radiator effectively ie. if the oil is spending too much time in the engine it is helping to store the heat instead of dispersing it.
The plunger type Morgo pumps are manufactured to a very high standard. But because of the very small amount of effective stroke out of the total plunger travel, all the vacuum and pressure has to be created within no more than 4.5mm from the bottom of the plunger bores, therefore the smallest amount of bore, or plunger wear has a very detrimental effect on the pumps performance. In the case of a rotary pump, as wear occurs over a much greater mileage, the oil flow and pressure capability remains surprisingly constant throughout the long life of the rotary type pump. If anything, in our experience the performance seems to improve.
